American Momentum Bank promotes Ryan Edwards to Energy Division President

MIDLAND, Texas (Sept. 29, 2021) — American Momentum Bank has promoted Ryan Edwards to Energy Division President. In his new role, Edwards will be responsible for managing and growing the bank’s portfolio of clients in the upstream oil and gas industry. Edwards replaces Bobby Norman, who will retire in October after more than 10 years as Energy Division President.

“Ryan is a natural fit for this role, with experience in both banking and the oil and gas industries,” said Jarod Thomas, West Texas President of American Momentum Bank. “His leadership coincides with the bank’s decision to expand our commitment in the energy market.”

Edwards joined American Momentum Bank as Commercial Relationship Manager in early 2020. Prior to that, he served as a consultant and interim Chief Financial Officer for a large offshore energy services company and Commercial Banking Relationship Manager for several large national banks.

“While other banks are looking to reduce their exposure in the energy market, American Momentum Bank is in a great position to grow our presence in the market,” said Edwards. “I’m looking forward to leading the bank as we work with clients to grow their businesses.”

During his career, Edwards worked with businesses of all sizes – from startups to entities with an excess of $1 billion in revenues – and has assisted businesses throughout all phases of the business cycle. For the last 10 years, he’s focused specifically on lending to businesses in the energy industry, and previously, he worked in various roles within the oilfield services industry.

“Ryan is a tremendous individual and highly qualified to lead the division. I’m confident that he will serve the bank and its clients well as we expand our energy division,” said Donald A. Adam, Chairman and CEO of American Momentum. “I’ve worked with Bobby Norman for nearly 20 years and appreciate all that he has done for our banking organizations and the wealth of experience he has brought to his role.”

Norman has more than 44 years of banking experience, including 27 years in the Midland community.

“The people here in West Texas have been most enjoyable to work with,” said Norman. “American Momentum Bank’s West Texas team as it exists now is a great group of people, and I’m confident that our clients are in good hands as I enter retirement.”
