American Momentum Bank donated $5,000 to KBTX’s 29th Annual Food for Families Food Drive on Dec. 3. The event raised monetary and food donations for the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
American Momentum Bank sponsored the 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. “matching time,” contributing a company donation in the amount of the total money donated by individuals that hour, up to $5,000. Representatives from the bank presented the donation check on-air.
“Giving back is an important part of our mission as a community bank,” said Frank Varisco, Bryan-College Station market president for American Momentum Bank. “We have been a long-time supporter of the Brazos Valley Food Bank because of the important work they are doing in the community. It’s a privilege to support them year after year as they raise money to help feed our neighbors in need.”
In the Brazos Valley, one in every five individuals faces food insecurity – one-third of those being children and another third being seniors. These individuals often must choose between food, medical care, utilities, transportation and even housing. Many families face heightened stress during the holiday season as they struggle to make ends meet.
The Brazos Valley Food Bank is a central food distribution site that utilizes millions of pounds of food, millions of dollars and thousands of volunteers to bring the Brazos Valley closer to being hunger-free. The organization feeds tens of thousands of unique individuals annually.
For the 29th year, KBTX partnered with the Brazos Valley Food Bank for the Food for Families Food Drive. Throughout Dec. 3, residents delivered donated food and money to several drop-sites across the area.
The event raised $196,396 and collected 106,964 pounds of food for the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
